Understanding and shaping the brief
A useful brief names the problem before it lists features. Discuss the existing process, the people involved, the constraints and what a successful outcome would look like. From there, agree priorities and a practical first scope.
What a project can include
Depending on the agreed scope, an engagement can include problem discovery, requirements, interface design, application development, integrations, testing and release preparation. Handover and any ongoing work should be defined explicitly for the project.
A good starting point
You might have a process that involves too much manual work, a specialist need that generic software misses, or a product idea grounded in your own experience. You do not need a finished specification to begin a useful conversation.

- No. Start with what you want to improve and who the software is for. The first discussion can help identify what needs to be understood next.
- Which platform should I choose?
- That depends on the use case, the audience and any existing systems. My Empower works across iOS, Android, macOS and web services, so the platform can follow the need.
- How much will it cost, and how long will it take?
- Scope, dependencies and complexity all affect cost and timing. These should be discussed once the problem and priorities are understood.
